It all started with a streak of blood on a crow. Or maybe it was the Pairing itself where girls of twenty in a place named Maedyn are married off to questionable bachelors. When Iris knocks off the head of the goddess' statue at the Brotherhood's ceremony, she finds herself copulated into a nightmare she's not sure she can escape from, much less save her loved ones and newfound people. With the help of cursed man-beasts called Haldos, a werecat, and the Akara City Guardians, Iris is going to rise to the role of the chosen. Or will she succumb to the darkness growing in the land and become no more than a footnote in history?
